Two podiums in Korea

Congratulations to Maëlle GuilbaudMaëlle Guilbaud Windsurf and Alexano SincouAlexandre Cousin FRA 752 for their 3rd places!!!

Not to forget Julien Quentel who finished 10th in the slalom.

It has just started. As Michel Van Der Pligt would say:
“Go fast GO PATRIK!”

Eight podiums to start the season!

The Easter long weekend is usually the start of the competition season in Europe as the spring slowly kicks in. It was no change this year with at least four competitions in different parts around Europe. The PWA started the season with a woman only wave event in Morocco. The event is still on till Saturday.

In the south of France, two national circuits have started with the first stop of the French tour and Swiss windsurf cup.

The AFF saw its first event of the season with BRET’S Funboard Tour AFF 2018 étape 1 MARIGNANE. In different wind conditions, they have finished three eliminations in both genders. With impressive 21 women and 76 men fleet, we are sure this might be the strongest national circuit in windsurfing. In women’s fleet, we saw the domination of Delphine Cousin in front of Marion Mortefon and Maelle Guilbaud. The PATRIK rider Maelle showed strong performance with a 2nd and 3rd places in first and second elimination so we are excited to see her results this season. While in men’s fleet we saw a very tight battle between Pierre Mortefon and Antoine Questel. With equal points, it was Pierre who won. With a solid performance, Alex Cousin made it to the 9th place, while Ludo Jossin after a solid 8th place in the first race was not really competing anymore. The young Benjamin Auge finished 17th.
In the light wind also a foil race was run where Cedric Bordes won with Alex Cousin in 2nd and Antoine Questel in 3rd.

Swiss Windsurfing started the season not far away in Hyères/France during. Despite not being far the wind was much stronger. They had a blast of winds with 35 to 45+ knots and the famous Almanarre waves. Despite a big fleet of competitors, many had not entered the water due to very rough conditions.
Karin Jaggi won all seven races for women and dominated the event. While her PATRIK teammates Franziska Stauffacher and Heidi Ulrich finished in 2nd and 3rd. While in the men’s fleet four tough races were finished and Patrik finished as the first Swiss and 3rd overall, just behind the top PWA riders Jordy Vonk, who won the event, and Marco Lang. Just to sum up the success of the PATRIK team there were 5 PATRIK riders in the top 10 (Patrik, Stauffacher, Beholz, Wilhelm, Remo Diethelm).
Two races of Fun Foil Course Races were held. Both were won by Jordy Vonk while Patrik got a two impressive 2nd places to finish in this raking on the second place in front of the multiple times Swiss Olympics competitor Richard Stauffacher also on PATRIK boards. On the foiling overall raking, there were 6 PATRIK team riders in the top 10 (Patrik, Stauffacher, Schuster, Dittrich, Bezler, Strub). Next stop of the Swiss Windsurfing will be in Cremia at Lake Como.

Finally in Greece the first speed competition of the season was run by the Hellenic Speed Slalom Windsurfing Association – HSSWA – Drepano 2018 Speed Race #1. In solid winds between 20 to 33 knots, 20 competitors had a blast. With everyone happy it was Konstantinos Papandrikopoulos who won the event, Alkis Vovos got second and PATRIK rider and partner Nick Vardalachos got the third place.

What a great and windy start of the race season!!! We believe it will be an EPIC one!

Janis Preiss dominates at the Estonian NP Baltic Cup

Janis Preiss dominates at the Estonian NP Baltic Cup and wins every single of the 5 races! What a standout performance. And this on a board he is only just riding for a few months by now. Janis joined PATRIK in April 2017 while testing new formula prototypes in South France. Janis quotes: “The current Formula v4 AI is good – I would like to say excellent – but then I will find no more appropriate words for the prototype 2018/2019 that I tested with Steve and Alex…”.

Wojtek Brzozowski wins first 1st event of the Formula European series!

Wojtek won 4 out of the 11 races counting at the 2017 ERGO Hestia FW Europeans taking place in Sopot/Poland and secured himself 1st place. CONGRATULATIONS WOJTEK! What a comback on the racing scene!

4 podium places at the Formula Windsurfing World Championships on Sylt

Thanks to the whole PATRIK team for the support and great time in Sylt! Well done to all!

How was the event going for you?
Steve Allen: The event was going well for me considering I just came from 3 back to back slalom events without the chance for any FW testing. Unfortunately the base material of my fin broke in the last races affecting my speed and last chance to take the win.

How you felt with your equipment?
Steve Allen: My gear was working very well it was just me making some small mistakes, but I felt fast enough to be able to win.

Can you already give us pre-view on next years equipment?
Steve Allen: I am very excited for next years equipment as it is just an improvement of the same concept that we have this year. Just earlier planning, faster tacking, and even easier again:)

How do you see foiling as a threat for Formula events?
Steve Allen: I don’t see it as a threat as it is just a different way to windsurf, Like RSX, Raceboard class, slalom etc. They all have different exciting aspects yet exist along side of the others. Also FW is still the earliest planning windsurfing with a 70cm fin where as the best foils are 1m deep with a 1m wide board making it more difficult to enter the water and find locations suitable for this.

Wojtek Brzozowski (POL-10) on PATRIK Boards

We are happy to announce another top international sailor joining the PATRIK Team. Welcome Wojtek Brzozowski (POL-10) 7-times World Champion!
Following his own statement:
I switched to PATRIK as I needed something new, I needed new power, new spirit. And luckily PATRIK came out with his new and exciting technology AirInside. So I ordered and got my boards and… wow!!! What a pleasant feeling! Such lightness, so easy planing, so fast and still so easy to jibe. I am shocked and I am in love! Just finished IFCA Slalom Grand Prix at Neusiedler See in Austria and I must say that I could easily win every first leg for speed. Amazing! So now I am back home training my sweet jibes but with peace in my heart as I know… I AM FAST! Great to be on PATRIK Team!

Great Start Into The New Year Racing Season 2017

Great start into the new year racing season. Patrik Diethelm and Steve Allen spent a week long testing ahead of the race in the south. After trying all new slalom shapes both were very confident already before the start. Steve got off the beach first and quickly expanded his unchallenged lead. Patrik who had a much slower start moved up to second before the first mark but realised it was too late to catch up Steve. After a bad third jibe Patrik saw the Severne sail behind him coming closer and made sure he stayed well ahead in second of what he believed to be Gunnar Asmussen. Only in the finish he realised that local team mate Rowen Law had an excellent race and completed the PATRIK elite podium! Just 4 minutes later in overall 11st position came in Karin Jaggi as first women. Together with the 3rd wave women from PATRIK Teamrider Lina Erpenstein it has been an excellent start to the 2017 racing season for PATRIK Boards.

Alexandre Cousin is the 2016 Formula Windsurfing World Champion

There is a new name on the plaque of champions – Alexandre Cousin from France is the 2016 Formula Windsurfing World Champion. To claim his first world title Alex won with his PATRIK Formula 4 Airinside 3 of the 7 races completed and posted consistently high results in the others, finishing the championship with the lowest overall score before discarded races.

After Steve Allens European Championship Title is this the second Title for PATRIKs Formula 4 Airinside.

Julien Quentel finishes his first season on PATRIK Boards with a great overall result!

Having started the year with a double sponsorship (to PATRIK and Avanti) change, for many it was uncertain how ready and how competitive Julien Quentel would be on the PWA Slalom World Tour.

Korea: 5th Place
Costa Brava, Spain: 18th Place
Fuerteventura, Spain: 5th Place
Hvide Sande, Denmark: 5th
Grand Slam in Sylt: 3rd in slalom, 25th place in freestyle and 17 in the waves

Overall Julien managed to position himself in 4th overall for the season.
Out of 18 eliminations he sailed in all of 16 finals!
An amazing statistic and stability throughout his season. Very few can boast this level of consistency and ability over so many events!

Thank you Julien for this outstanding first Season on PATRIK!
